Grounding and Protecting

Grounding and Protecting yourself during all spiritual work is very important.  In fact, I suggest to do this everyday even if you are not doing spiritual work.  The reason this is so important is because it will block negative energies from you and also will keep you anchored to the physical world.  I am going to share some of the things I do but they can all be modified to fit your needs and style.

Grounding

-Using Stones

There are many stones out there that can be helpful with grounding.  I personally prefer Hematite, for me that is the strongest grounding energy I have found within a stone.  For you this may be different, so please experiment and play with different stones to find the perfect fit for your energy.  Here are some other stones you can try for grounding:  Fire Agate, Bloodstone, Galena, Magnetite, Smoky Quartz, Tourmalinated Quartz and Unakite.  When using stones I just hold them in my hand, close my eyes, concentrate on deep breathing for a few minutes and then I take in all that energy from the stones that will ground me to the earth.  (Just a side note: remember to keep these stones cleansed)  If you feel that this grounds you enough then you are done.

For me sometimes it is enough, but a lot of times I take it a step further.

-Short and Simple Grounding Meditation

Start out by finding a quiet place that you will not be disturbed.  Get yourself comfortable, you can lay down, sit or even stand.  Just do whatever is the most comfortable for you.   Close your eyes and relax, take deep breathes in and out.  Imagine that you are exhaling all your stress and negative energy out, and inhaling all peaceful, loving positive energy in.  Feel yourself start to be filled with all that goodness, from your toes to the top of your head.  Do this for a few minutes.  Once you feel you have gotten all that negativity out its time to start the grounding work.  Imagine you have roots (like a tree or plant) coming out of the bottom of your feet.  Now imagine those roots growing, they are going to grow through the floor or floors, keep imaging them growing further and further through the floors until you reach the soil underneath.  Feel that damp cold soil as you imagine your roots touching it and then penetrating it going even deeper.  Say out loud or in your mind “I am part of the earth, I am connected to the earth with my roots, I am steady and grounded”.  When you feel ready you can start to imagine your roots coming out of the soil and back through the floors until they again are within your feet.

You may choose to also use your stones, holding them in your hands during this meditation.

 

Protecting 

-Using Stones

There are stones out there that are very useful for protection.  Though I still think you need to do the Protection Meditation stones can aid you as well.  For protection stones you want to have them placed around you, or on you.  Here are some of the stones you can use: Fire Agate, Amber, Amethyst, Bloodstone, Carnelian, Pyrite, Jade, Jasper, Jet, Kunzite, Labradorite, Obsidian, Prehnite and Smoky Quartz.

-Short and Simple Protection Meditation (this can be combined with the grounding meditation to save time)

Start out by finding a quiet place that you will not be disturbed. Get yourself comfortable, you can lay down, sit or even stand. Just do whatever is the most comfortable for you. Close your eyes and relax, take deep breathes in and out. Imagine that you are exhaling all your stress and negative energy out, and inhaling all peaceful, loving positive energy in. Feel yourself start to be filled with all that goodness, from your toes to the top of your head. Do this for a few minutes.  Now imagine a beautiful blue light of protection start to form around you, this light is all the universe’s love and energy.  You can feel it vibrating around you.  Slowly you are going to imagine this light growing until it forms a bubble all around you.  This is your protection bubble.  Say and know that nothing negative or bad can penetrate this bubble, in this bubble you are safe and cannot be harmed.  Thank the universe and/or creator for protecting you.  Continue your deep breathing until you and the bubble are completely filled with the blue light.

 

Now you can Protect and Ground yourself anytime you need it.  These Meditations will get easier the more you do them.   And it is very important to do before any spiritual work.  Again I suggest doing it everyday.    Feel free to comment and tell us how you ground and protect yourself.
